Public Notice – Fraud Alert

Franklin County has been made aware that contact information for applicants listed on public meeting agendas is being used to send fraudulent phishing emails requesting payment.

🚨 Franklin County will NEVER request payment by bank transfer, wire transfer, ACH, gift card, or any other electronic funds transfer method by email. 🚨

All official Franklin County invoicing for the Building Department and Planning & Zoning is handled in office by cash, check, or online payment through our official permitting portal, Citizen Serve.

If you receive an email requesting payment that appears suspicious:

❗ DO NOT MAKE ANY PAYMENT.
❗ Do not click on links or provide financial information.

Instead, please report the email immediately to:

ANNOUNCEMENTS: 

 ALL NEW DEVELOPMENT THAT WILL CHANGE LOT COVERAGE MUST FOLLOW THE BELOW STEPS:

  1. Apply for a Development Permit with the Planning and Zoning Department
  2. After your Development Permit is issued, apply for a building permit for the primary structure (this is the house on a residential development).
  3. After your permit is issued for your primary structure, apply for a building permit for any additional NONHABITABLE structures (pool, shed, pole barn)
  4. After Certificate of Occupancy for primary structure is issed, apply for any additional HABITABLE structure (mother-in-law suite, pool house).  SECONDARY HABITABLE STRUCTURES WILL NOT BE PERMITTED UNTIL AFTER PRIMARY STRUCTURE IS COMPLETED.
